Garageio promises to smarten up your garage door with in-app controls and push notifications. I just got my hands on a unit, so I wanted to show you guys what’s inside the box.
The most consistent question I get on my YouTube videos is “What about the Skydrop?” Now that I’ve got my hands on the 8-Zone Skydrop smart sprinkler controller I can finally answer that question.
After testing and really enjoying the RainMachine HD-12, I’m now going to give the Mini-8 a run. Here’s some info on what’s inside the box.
The RainMachine Mini-8 Smart Irrigation Controller is an EPA Watersense certified WiFi sprinkler system that will skip waterings when it rains. The unit can be controlled with an iOS, Android or web device and also integrates with IFTTT (If This Then That), which can wire up with other smart services like Amazon’s Echo.
Orbit is the first big irrigation company to offer a smart sprinkler controller, and I’ve got it in my hands.
The 12-Zone B-Hyve controller is built into a weatherproof enclosure and downloads weather data to determine a watering schedule. It can be controlled with web, iOS and Android devices. It even has manual control buttons on the device itself.
The Rachio Generation 2 Smart Sprinkler Controller has arrived and I can’t wait to get this device installed.
On paper the Rachio is the class of the WiFi sprinkler controller field, with a beautiful device, full-featured apps, IFTTT integration and EPA WaterSense Certification.
The next smart sprinkler controller that I’ll be checking out for review is the Blossom 12-Zone Smart Watering Controller. The Blossom has some of the nicest packaging I’ve seen on any product, so I hope that’s a good omen for the overall performance of the unit.
I received the PlantLink soil sensor in the mail today so it’s time for an unboxing video before I get it into the ground.
The PlantLink base station connects to your home network with a wired ethernet cable. The base station broadcasts its signal to the sensors using the Zigbee protocol. For comparison, Parrot’s Flower Power sensor uses Bluetooth Smart and connects directly to your phone.
I just got this 16-Zone BlueSpray unit with WiFi in the mail, so I’m taking a minute to post an unboxing video and some photos.
The BlueSpray WiFi Sprinkler Controller is a smart irrigation unit that allows you to set your watering schedule as complex or simple as you want. The controller can be expanded to support 64 zones, so this thing can be a workhorse for big commercial jobs.
